Venetian Reflections on our Heritage

Dear friends,

long followed with dismay the fate of three architectural structures in a state of extreme deterioration. In order of antiquity, are the ancient tower of Mount Crocetta, dominant Fontega Arcugnano and towers, the chapel, or chapel, dedicated to the Holy Family, located in Valley of Calvi, Villa Montanari, located in the town of Arcugnano. There are three buildings of different importance, perhaps of questionable artistic merit, but still witnesses of our history, so important, as far as I'm concerned.

We've received an inheritance from our ancestors, up to us to protect them. But there is one major obstacle: they are private buildings. Let's learn more.

Some time ago, when he was in office the past administration, through the intervention of Deputy Mayor Federico Bedin, at our request, we were able to restore the entrance doors of the precious church of Santa Margherita.
fourteenth century artifact that preserves within itself an important cycle of frescoes (actually still at risk) that, due to a hole, created in the decaying wood of the doors, had become a shelter for stray or wild animals.

Not happy, not long ago I wrote to the mayor, dr. Paolo Gozzi, to submit to the fate of Villa Montanari. The preservation of the home is painful, in the eyes of all, it is also equally clear that the alarm hygiene involves a similar degradation. Just to make a list of tenants, know that it has become the kingdom of hornets, stray cats, pigeons, wasps, mice, cockroaches who inhabit undisturbed an imposing building in the center of town.
One side of the villa overlooking Via Marconi, busy road every day, placing further doubt on the structure. Degradation, again, is evident in the population and generates a sense of sadness and abandonment general.
Mayor very kindly answered me which is not within its powers to intervene, since the artifact, in the past has been sold to a private person, and adds, in a private email to the undersigned: "will encourage owners to take steps to make at least the minimum work necessary to public safety" . Important words, which we appreciate. That was June 1st. After that, the owners did not lift a finger, and the situation can hardly be improved. Indeed.

same fate for the Tower and the ancient church of the Val Calvi, from what it is, these are private buildings. Now, taking for common ground and accepting the principle of our civilization that is an institution of private property sacred and untouchable, should also be mandatory charges relating thereto, namely: the conservation, preservation of buildings, respect for the common past, the honor (!), prevention and health protection for the population, without guilt, lives in the vicinity of remains above!

I know these words will fall into oblivion, but I also know that the Internet will remain in memory and perhaps you might be an encouragement for someone.
-Or-but I highly doubt that because of these words, the owners, driven by shame or love, I finally decide to end the massacre.

Will it ever true?

Denis Lotti, Arcugnano
