The CEI for the mouth of its president, Cardinal Bagnasco was expressed yesterday on various issues, including abortion. Far be it from me to challenge the right of the Church, any Church to express your opinion on issues that are part of His doctrine. But I want to express some ideas on this issue. My Church, the Waldensian Church, is certainly not pro-abortion, but I'm not. I never tried to abort my wife or any other woman. Yet at the time of the referendum voted in favor of the law 194.
You see, I have always thought and still think, that is certainly not a law that causes a disease, the role of law, any law, is to mitigate the effects of "evil", already present in society which we live. I have 70 years, I remember so many incidents also occurred in the context of my knowledge, of abortions performed by midwives, lightly, with little sense of hygienic precaution, even with the devastating psychological effects on the part of the same tasks and the time was the victim such a transaction. I think the first victim of abortion is the woman who makes a choice so difficult! And as a believer in the teachings of Jesus who almost always forget I always felt a feeling of cum passion with women involved in a pain that a man probably can not even imagine. There are some phrases that Christian teaching I always kept in mind: one is the famous phrase "who is without sin cast the first stone." Or "Hypocrite first remove the plank from your eye before you judge the speck in the eye of others." I do not like nor do I ever love those who judge too easily. Everyone trying to improve himself! Maybe we will have a more humane and just society!
About love and hate:
"Love is noble, is kind, not envious, does not boast, is not puffed up with pride, not rude, does not seek its own interests, not angry, does not take account of the injury received, does not rejoice but rejoices with the truth. Bears all things, hopes all things, endures all things. "
These are not logically in my own words, are words of the Apostle Paul in First Corinthians! Mia is instead a reflection! Perhaps it would be better than our politicians think twice before expressing opinions about important issues. It may not even know the meaning of what they say. Perhaps the churches, all! without partiality of deployment, should rediscover the prophetic message for the construction of a future society more just, more responsive to real needs of young people that inherit after us, so it does not have to meet in what would be truly a miscarriage of faith, hope and love.
