The young descendants of immigrants or children of Italian citizens residing abroad or witnesses to an expression of Italian culture abroad are invited, through the schools in countries where the Italian presence is most significant, to participate in the photo competition, mostly the testimony of Italian in the world, in the educational project "150 years Grande Italy.
First phase of an ongoing initiative in view of the celebrations of the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy is in fact the collection of photographs taken by students aged 8 to 19 years and sent through the schools they attended by 31 foreign May 2010.
Some of the material collected, in addition to participating in the competition, will make a major exhibition to be held in September at the opening ceremony of the school year 2010-2011 in Turin. A scientific committee will select the winning of the competition, winning with products made in Italy.
The project "150 years Big Italy" provides for other events associated with the competition. It is sponsored by the Ministry of Education, University and Research and by the regional school for Piedmont, with the support of The Factory and the patronage of UNESCO CNI, the Italian Cultural Institute in Sao Paulo, the Committee 150 years and the Province of Turin.
The organizing committee of "Greater Italy 150 years" is also taking steps to inform the councilors of CGIE encouraged to communicate any names of teachers to be engaged abroad and spread the initiative. These rules are available on the official website: www.scuola.net/150anni .
