The birth dates back to 1810, and in particular to the wedding of King Ludwig I of Bavaria to Princess Therese von Sachsen Hildburghausen. Just to involve the people in the festivities, it was decided to prepare a feast to be repeated each year located in a large park, which has since was named Theresienewiese (park Teresa). In 1811 joined a cattle show, and only in 1818, there were swings and roundabouts. In 1820, they increased the attraction with groups of acrobats and anatomical wonders. The beer flowed and the years that passed, they soon forget that marriage is the jousting tournament, and were an excuse to celebrate every year what eventually became the beer festival. The popular event, more 'big in the world, takes place every year in Monaco of Bavaria, between the third week of September and October 1.
